The horses: Meet our sweet horses at the campsite

Do you have children who are crazy about horses? Would you like your camping trip to go somewhere where your daughter or son can pet a pair of sweet, soft mules over the fence? Then you should go to Skive - because we have six of them! That's the first thing you see when you drive up with your caravan; the horses walk on both sides of the campsite's driveway.

We have a small family of miniature Shetland ponies, consisting of father Bob, big brother Sidus (who has probably just blown the mark for being miniature) and little sister Nezzie. In addition, we have Manse, who is a big, beautiful Irish cob with the most beautiful handlebar moustache, and two Icelandic horses, Vilma and Lettir. The Icelanders are the newest addition to the family, and the plan is that in the long run they can give some short pulling trips - but for now they are still just big kids who are getting used to living on a campsite and experiencing the world.

The horses always want to talk over the fence, and they are incredibly sweet and friendly. During the holidays we have Pony School, where children over six years old can learn how to groom, the basics of handling and understanding horses, and go for walks with our cute ponies.

Bemærk: The horses have a special diet and allergies. It is therefore very important that you do not feed the horses anything - not even grass, as soil on roots and various poisonous plants can sneak in and make the horses sick.

Pony school: Fun with horses for children

During the summer holidays (from June 28th to August 9th) we have Pony School on Mondays at 16:30-17:30pm, where the Miniature Shetland pony family teaches children from six years old how to groom, care for and care for a pony, the basics of how to train a horse based on scientific studies of the horse's brain and about safety. We have fun brushing and braiding while we talk about the horses and why a horse can NOT be "naughty". We take a look inside the stable, which is a so-called loose stable, which means that the horses decide for themselves whether they want to be inside or outside. It's SO cozy!

Pony school typically takes about 1 hour, and you must register in advance. Places are usually in high demand, so please write to us when you book your holiday if you know in advance that there is a small family member who would like to join.
It costs 100 DKK/child to participate, which goes entirely to the horses' annual ration of carrots and treats :-)
